If you watched the VGA's last December, one of the games that had a reveal was a mysterious title called The Phantom Pain. It was said to be developed by Moby Dick Studios, and many thought it was some sort of teaser to a new Metal Gear Solid game. Then later, MGS: Ground Zeroes was shown, and speculation ran that is was essentially MGG 5. Well today Hideo Kojima has confirmed that these two reveals together make a new game: Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
This new game in the popular franchise will feature open-world elements and is slated to release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, meaning the game could be available sometime this year either before or after new consoles have been released.
This is all great news, but it has been rumored that David Hayter, the long-running voice actor for Solid Snake, may not be reprising his role as the classic hero which would be a bummer. I hope it's not true! The beginning of the game is said to be a made in a linear structure and act as the tutorial mode since Solid Snake is awaking from a coma.
Check out the gameplay video below, which is running on the new Fox Engine that will power future Kojima games!
