Activision presented Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer earlier today, which revealed some new gameplay mechanics and details regarding the confirmed modes when the game launches in November.

Set to arrive on 360, XB1, PS4, PS3, and PC, Advanced Warfare will take the exoskeleton suit from the game's campaign and fully incorporate its abilities into the game's multiplayer, which promises to create a fast-paced new way to play the popular mode.

Below is a brief video of the newly announced multiplayer features, and the full reveal will soon be available to re-watch, which contains more in-depth details on the new features.

One more neat feature that pre-ordering the game will bring is the ability to play a day early. Customers who pre-order the Day Zero edition will be able to pick up the title on November 3rd for their preferred console.

Advanced Warfare is shaping to be another big blockbuster hit, and will no doubt continue the success of the Call of Duty franchise.

Capcom has announced that the first entry in their acclaimed action-horror series will be getting an HD release for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3 and 360. Resident Evil was remade a few years ago for the Gamecube, and this version which is due out in 2015, looks to follow the trend by offering the original gameplay with a nice visual overhaul.
While the last game in the series, Resident Evil 6, sold fairly well, it was stated to be a critical disappoint by fans and reviewers due to it's lack of horror and emphasis on shooting action.

The classic RE titles are always considered to be among the best in the genre, so if this remake does well maybe we'll get a new title that will take the best from the past games to create a new Next-Gen experience.

Review: Watch Dogs

Digital Vengeance

It's hard to talk about Watch Dogs without bringing up the game's debut a few years back at the 2012 E3 Gaming Convention. Ubisoft's then new upcoming property instantly wowed with it's visuals and hacking concept, and was slated to be the game to buy for the next-generation of consoles. Since the game's release in May, it has sold extremely well and while it didn't visually match up to the game's premeire footage, it was still proclaimed as a solid open-world title.

Watch Dogs is a cross-generation title, so questions arised about how it would fare on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so hopefully my review of the 360 version here will help answer that question!

It shouldn't come to anyone as a surprise that Watch Dogs doesn't look that great on last-gen consoles when compared to the new consoles, but this doesn't mean it's a bad looking game. The character model for Aiden Pierce is fairly nice, and the open-world of Chicago is presented with great detail as you drive and hack your wa around the city.

While the visuals are good, it's the gameplay that is offered here as the star of Watch Dogs on last-gen consoles. The ability to manipulate specific areas of the environment with Aiden's extraordinary phone is awesome, and only gets better as you upgrade and unlock new abilities as you progress through the game's campaign.

Aiden's main goal as a vigilante is to seek out those responsible for the death of a family member, but overtime this evolves into something more as he follows a digital trail of conspiracies that creates a target on his back from multiple sources. It's a fairly engaging affair that will take about 20+ hours complete if you focus solely on the missions, but there are some fun and interesting activities to partake in outside the game's story that will add to the hour count of content available in the game.

The comparisons to GTA 5 have popped up several times since the game's release, but Watch Dogs mostly follows the formula that Ubisoft has established with their recent Assassin's Creed releases in terms of the gameplay structure. Areas around the game's depiction of Chicago are sectioned off and to fully unlock the available activities there, you must first hack into ctOS towers that are place in similar fashion to towers in AC. Once this is done, you'll be able to see the recently unlocked area, which will then be full of various activities to engage with. There's the interesting digital trips, a set of unique mini-games to play, as well as various activities around the city to partake in like poker and gang-hideouts.

Hacking is the main form of interacting with the world in Watch Dogs, and all of the abilities surrounding this are done with one button. There are times when you have to infiltrate a restricted area, but before you even make your presence known and begin a firefight, you can cause some real damage with your hacking abilities. It's a ton of fun to hack into a camera's feed to survey an area full of guards, explode objects to distract or dispatch of enemies in these areas, or you can even detonate grenades that enemies may be holding in their pockets  all from Aiden's phone and all before you physically enter the area.

When not hacking into the accounts of unsuspecting pedestrians, security cameras, traffic lights, and other unique objects, Aiden will have to sometimes shoot and sneak his way through the game, and this is where the game becomes rather conventional, but still fun to play.

There is a cover system like most action titles possess, but Watch Dogs lacks the ability to blind fire and even attack from vehicles, which is almost an must-have ability for any game of this type. While the game is much more than another open-world title, it weirdly lacks some of the features that are almost expected for third-person open-world games, which does slightly hinder the experience in terms of the action contained in Watch Dogs. Another issue that appears is the slippery car-handling for most vehicles except for the motorcycles, my personal favorite and preferred method to get around the game's environment. Two-wheeled vehicles are to way to go in this version of Chicago.

Aside from the hacking, Watch Dogs' other neat feature is its multiplayer modes. The next-gen versions have a mode where players can freely explore Chicago together, which is unfortunately absent for 360, and PS3, although the hacking mode and races are still intact to play here. In the hacking mode, players can invade the games of others, and will appear as an NPC with the goal of hacking the other player.

At first, it's a neat little game of cat and mouse, as you must find the other player among the crowd of NPCs before all of your data is stolen. Since it can happen at any time, you may be focused on campaign missions like I was, only being forced to stopped since anyone can invade your game unless you're offline or disabling the feature.

Watch Dogs isn't the revolutionary next step in open-world gaming, but it is still very fun and well put together. You won't have the visual wow factor of playing on the last-gen consoles, but the game still contains most of the features that are available on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. With the game selling very well for Ubisoft, I'm sure we'll see another iteration of the game down within the next few years, which will hopefully address the small negatives that are found in the game.

+ Interesting plot and hacking mechanics
+ Fun multiplayer modes that utilize the game's strengths

- Driving physics and lack of basic shooting maneuvers when in vehicles

Starting next month, Microsoft will have an Xbox One available for purchase with the retail price of $399. Price drops are always expected sometime after a new system has been released, but this is interesting as the Xbox One that can be bought in June will be available without the Kinect, a tool Microsoft has stated before to be very integral to the console's DNA.

This change will make the Xbox One available for the same price as the PlayStation 4, which has had a successful launch since November. Price drops are always great, but you have to wonder how Kinect developers may feel about this news since it was first believed that every Xbox One user would have a Kinect allowing for more potential sales of the games that require Kinect to play.

Another change Microsoft has made and one without any real controversy is the ability to use previously Gold Member locked apps on both Xbox 360 and XB1 without the need to purchase Xbox Live. Starting in June, you'll no longer have to be a Gold member to enjoy Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu, and other premium apps that already require a subscription to use.

Lastly is the announcement of Games With Gold for Xbox One. The popular program which began last year for Xbox 360 will start up on XB1 this June, with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. It was also announced that Dark Souls, Charlie Murder, and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be the next games with gold for Xbox 360 next month, so you'll be able to grab another free game next month.

All in all, this is great news for gamers, and it'll be interesting to see how these changes will effect Microsoft next month as they show the future of Xbox at E3 2014.

Makin' Money with Friends

When Grand Theft Auto Online was released last October, it arrived with major server issues that stopped players from fully diving into the experience for about a week after it had gone online. My original plan was to review the online portion after it was stable and when online heists went live, but while it's fully playable now, the biggest current features for GTA Online are just now becoming available or will be sometime this year.

Instead of reviewing it as a complete package, I thought I would do an overview of the online portion of GTA 5.

Those who follow CVG's GTA V o' clock series will know that there are possible hints for bigger things to come for GTA Online, so we can all hope that the game finds its way onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in the future, so that this component can become bigger and coincide with the major open-world release from Rockstar that only comes around every 4+ years.

With GTA Online on PS3 and 360, there's still plenty of reasons to play, and now that the content creator has been released, creativity in the modes will help keep players invested in exploring San Andreas as their online persona.

Since October, I've put in around 40+ hours in GTA Online, with most of that time spent fooling around the open-world with friends. Nowadays though, some of those friends are unavailable when I'm on to play to play and vice versa, which makes the component feel a bit less worth playing unless you have a crew to play with.

Heists are the last major elements of GTA Online that players are still waiting for, so let's hope that they come soon. Overall, GTA Online is great to play, but only when you have plenty of others to interact with as you all seek out to wreak havoc or just fool around for a few hours in Los Santos.

If you wanted to check out Titanfall before its March release, you're in luck as the highly anticipated title from Respawn Studios will be getting an open beta in the coming weeks!

Titanfall, which is the creation of the former heads of Infinity Ward, is set to release on March 11th for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC as part of an exclusive deal with Microsoft.

The Xbox 360 version of the game will be handled by Bluepoint, who have recently received praise with their work on the HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and Peace Walker, and the Shadow of the Colossus/ Ico HD bundle.

So yeah, the 360 version is in good hands to say the least.

The game currently has an closed Alpha test going on, and now those who want to test-drive the game before March 11th can now get excited for their upcoming chance to play it early with the beta.

The first downloadable content for State of Decay will be arriving on Friday, November 29th and will available to both Steam and Xbox 360 users for $6.99, Undead Labs have announced.

State of Decay: Breakdown focuses on the major survival aspect of State of Decay by allowing players to leave town and arrive in a harder version of the map with more difficult hordes to withstand, new weapons and items to find and use, new playable survivors to access, as well as new achievements unlock.

Breakdown will also be arriving with the latest title update, which will bring new fixes and the ability to remap functions on the keyboard for Steam users. I've put in over 50 hours on the Xbox 360 version of the game, and can't wait to add to that tally with the new features that Breakdown includes. Be sure to check it out!

Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts

Behind The Mask

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the newest in the annually released franchise, with Infinity Ward up at bat this year. While multiplayer still has that great formula for online gameplay with new incorporated modes, I found myself missing the old ones quite a bit. The campaign, the part that most players won't even check out, is actually worth playing and you'll learn more about why the game is called Ghosts with a story that is easy to understand and one that contains a surprising amount of variety toward the end in terms of the gameplay and locations that you'll visit.

Despite the focus on Next-Gen, the game still looks and plays great with 60fps on current-gen, although its overall package feels thin in comparison to Black Ops II and the early Modern Warfare games.

If you enjoy Call of Duty, Ghosts is another solid entry, but it just feels like the game does just enough to justify picking up until next year's title arrives.

Early reports about the campaign stated it takes about 4 hours, but I found it to be a bit longer than that. Playing on regular difficulty and not having too much trouble in any area, I saw the credits roll at about 7 hours. It's a fairly solid title that may be my favorite right behind the original Modern Warfare game.

In the story you'll play as Logan Walker, a silent protagonist who fights alongside his brother Hesh as they work for their father who tells them about the Ghosts. The main plot of the game revolves around stopping the Federation, an army of mostly South Americans who seek to use weapons to finish the war with the remaining resistance alongside a man named Rorke, a former associate of your father Elias. There's a bit more to it, but it's not anything that you haven't really seen before.

There's also Riley, your German Shepard squadmate who you'll be able to control at certain points in the game, although his appearance is under-utilized in the main campaign, but at least the sequences with him are pretty neat when they do pop up.

Multiplayer is of course the heart of every Call of Duty title, and the formula still works well in Ghosts. With 12 players max in every mode on 360, it does feel quite small since I am a player who enjoys the bigger 18 player count in Ground War, a mode found in most of the past games. The maps even feel like they require more players, but this is probably due the the size bump on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which share the same maps and modes from the current gen versions.

In terms of the new modes offered, they are pretty fun if not slightly varied versions of past modes. Search and Destroy has been replaced with Search and Rescue, a mode that is essentially the same as S&D except you can revive players once they lose their life.

There's also Cranked, a TDM mode where you have around 30 seconds to gain kills before you're blown up once you've gotten a initial kill in the match, and Blitz, a mode where you must enter a enemy portal and teleport around the map to gain points. These new modes are fun, but they are more or less slighly altered versions of content that we have all already experienced before.

Additional content like Theater mode and emblem creation have still not been adapted by Infinity Ward, although there is a new soldier creator which is greatly implemented in the new Squads mode.

Squads are a great way for new COD players to check out the Multiplayer options in Ghosts. These modes mostly consist of A.I enemy and allies, as you can build up your own or fight against other players and their squads.

The last big addition is Extinction, a new survival mode for Ghosts where you must work to stop an alien threat from spreading. A first glance of Extinction would have players thinking it is simply the Zombies mode from Treyarch's titles, but Extinction is actually much different.

While survival is still key, the main goal is to hold down sections of the map with other players while you plant a device to destroy alien hives. Points earned in Extinction unlock new weapons and items to use, but you also have level progression in Extinction as with the regular multiplayer mode of Ghosts.

With the power and capabilities of the impending Next-Gen hardware, we can only hope that Call of Duty will use it to innovate a bit more, but in the meantime Ghosts shows that however frequent the formula is used for Call of Duty, it still contains enough to be fun for both online and local players.

+ Varied missions toward the end of the campaign
+ Multiplayer formula still works despite lack of previous features
+ Fun Extinction mode

- Player cap on Current-Gen consoles
- Features removed from MP that I enjoyed like Ground War
