This week is pretty big for gaming. We've got a sequel to the Orange Box Gem Portal, a new Socom game from the original creators, and the rebirth of violent fighter Mortal Kombat. While Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat are multi-platform, the PS3 versions of these games will have a cool edge. For Portal 2, Steam will be utilized for the PlayStation 3 and offers players the chance to play and chat with their Steam buddies playing on PC, as well as the Steam Cloud for saving game data and settings.

Kratos from the epic God of War series was available to play as in the PSP game Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, and now we will take his skills to the cast of Mortal Kombat, a chance only PS3 users will have to do match-ups like Kratos vs. Scorpion, or Kratos vs. Raiden.

If you also plan on getting Socom 4 for PS3, you'll be able to play in 3D and use the PlayStation Move.

All in All this is a good week to be a gamer, with many great titles available as downloadable games if you don't pick up Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat.
