After a few tweets of an updated Rockstar logo and a silhouetted image of seven armed men, Rockstar Games has officially announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming. Not much is known yet about the title, but it will be available next Fall for PS4 and Xbox One. A trailer for the title will be released this Thursday, so expect plenty of analysis videos to hit the web as we begin the countdown.

Red Dead Redemption was released six years ago and remains one of Rockstar’s best titles in my opinion. Xbox One players recently got a chance to revisit the franchise with a backwards compatible update, and PC fans remain hopeful they’ll be able to experience the western hit either with a remake or a forthcoming announcement of a PC version of the sequel.

In just eight days, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and with it comes several exciting new enhcancments to the core gameplay. There's the all-new First person view as detailed last week by several news outlets, the inclusion of 30 players for GTA online and all of its released add-on content, the many awesome visual enhancements, and over 100 new songs that will be integrated into game's soundtrack.

Never thought I could get just as excited for a re-release like I am for GTA 5, but that just goes to show you how amazingly talented Rockstar Games is!

[UPDATE]

According to IGN and Gtabase, GTA: San Andreas will indeed be re-released on October 26th for Xbox 360. The game will run in 720p, contain an increased draw-distance, and 1000 unlockable gamerscore points, as already listed by xbox360achievments.org. No official word from Rockstar yet, but both of these sites are credible outlets, so I'm sure this is true. Will update this post if needed to include an statement from Rockstar themselves.

[UPDATE 2 - 10/25/14 12:00PM]

Rockstar Games has confirmed the re-release via their support page. The game will be released on October 26th on the Games on Demand service for Xbox 360. The Xbox Originals download will become available again, although it will not feature the enhancements of the new version.

From the Support Page:

Question: I noticed that the Xbox Originals version of GTA: San Andreas was removed from Xbox LIVE. When will it become available again?

Answer: GTA: San Andreas on the Xbox Marketplace will be available again for purchase beginning October 26th, 2014, through Games on Demand. This version features 720p resolution, enhanced draw distance, and Achievement support.

Please note: The Games on Demand version of San Andreas is not compatible with the Xbox Originals version. Save files will not transfer from Xbox Originals. Owners of the Xbox Originals version will still have access to the old version on their consoles and through their download history, with the option to purchase the new version to experience the added features on a new save file.

Original post:

With the news coming out yesterday regarding a set of achievements appearing for a possible Xbox 360 version of San Andreas, it got me interested in checking out the game again. A few years ago, I purchased the game as an Xbox original download for 360 when it went on sale for $10, I believe. As the articles described on several news outlets explained, the game is now unavailable to download on Xbox 360, only adding to the possibility of the impending remake.

I even sifted through my download history both from my console and on Xbox.com, and only found the game page with the link to download the title removed. While I wouldn't say this guarantees that the title will be coming out soon, (The game celebrates its 10th year anniversary in a few days!), it is a strong indicator that Rockstar wants players to pick up the possible updated version instead of download the game that was already there.

Rockstar Games is keeping quiet for the moment, and their main tweet yesterday only revealed that a chance to win an Sandreas iPad will be coming as apart of a contest/giveaway.

Hopefully this remake will come to fruition soon. The signs are now too strong to ignore!

The Next-Gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 are set to released on November 18th, Rockstar Games has announced. The anticipated PC release will be a few months later on January 27th. Both the next-gen and PC version of the game promise overhauled visuals, new content, and some of that detail can be displayed in the trailer below.

From Rockstar:

"Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will also feature enhanced radio selections with over 100 additional new songs and new DJ mixes from returning DJs across the game’s 17 radio stations.

A host of new, exclusive content also awaits for players returning from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more.

Enhancements to Grand Theft Auto Online include an increased player count, with online play now for up to 30 players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. All existing gameplay upgrades and Rockstar-created content released since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online will also be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with much more to come."

Rockstar Games is really looking to create the definitive edition of this great game when it arrives in the coming months for both the new consoles and PC. I can't wait to explore Los Santos once again!

For a limited time only, GTA Online players will be able to unlock some Fourth of July themed content, as announced today on Rockstar's Newswire feed. The content is currently available now as an automatic update, which will begin as soon as Grand Theft Auto 5 is started. It includes new properties to own, several new vehicles, and two Independence Day-themed weapons.

From Rockstar:

"Demonstrate your exceptionalism and own the road from sea to shining sea with two new star spangled rides, the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. And protect your rights the same way our Founding Fathers did with the latest addition to Ammu-Nation's antiques collection, the high-powered Musket... or channel your inner Jack Howitzer with the spectacular Firework Rocket Launcher.

Seven new properties have also been added to the Dynasty 8 rolls, including locations in Paleto Bay and Vinewood Hills that provide plenty of yard space to scorch the grass with your very own Fireworks show. Use up to 12 varieties with different fuse lengths to create a spectacle that would make even the most battle-hardened Republican Space Ranger shed a tear. If you prefer rickety amusements operated by minimum wage teenage workers over incendiary lawn displays, then venture down to Pleasure Pier where you can now ride the Ferris Whale and the Leviathan Roller Coaster.

This limited-time update also features an overabundance of patriotic flare: show off nationalistic pride with a "Made in the U.S.A." t-shirt, a backwoods mullet or let the eagle soar with an animal mask featuring this great nation's most fearsome and majestic creatures."

Be sure to check out the content before it's gone!

Set to arrive tomorrow for GTA Online is the next free DLC for the game titled 'The High Life Update'. The new content will feature new high-end apartments to purchase and explore, the ability to own multiple housing properties, four new vehicles, and the new Bullpup Rifle.

Rockstar has also stated that the much anticipated heists for GTA Online will be coming shortly, as well as new single-player content, hopefully in the vein of GTA IV's Lost & Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony DLC.

E3 is also next month, so let's hope that a Xbox One, PC, or PS4 version of GTA 5 will be announced!

The long wait for playable Heists in GTA Online may soon be over, as Rockstar has announced a slew of new updates coming this Spring. Along with this highly anticipated feature, there will also be DLC titled High Life, which will bring new vehicles, apartments, and the ability to own multiple apartments, so the money earned online will be very useful to players soon.

Having Multiple properties is a much requested feature from fans, and it looks like Rockstar will answer when the High Life Update comes out.

Content Creators will also be happy to know that there will be editable Capture modes, so soon you'll be able to create deathmatch, races, and capture modes for players to download with the chance that Rockstar will verify the coolest creations.

Refinements will also be coming to GTA Online like the reversal of the game physics for stunt players, meaning the changes made to how bikes and cars behave online will be more like the offline mode, so tricks will be easier to pull of.

It's nice to see how committed Rockstar is to the online portion of their biggest game, and soon we'll all get to check out these new updates!

Makin' Money with Friends

When Grand Theft Auto Online was released last October, it arrived with major server issues that stopped players from fully diving into the experience for about a week after it had gone online. My original plan was to review the online portion after it was stable and when online heists went live, but while it's fully playable now, the biggest current features for GTA Online are just now becoming available or will be sometime this year.

Instead of reviewing it as a complete package, I thought I would do an overview of the online portion of GTA 5.

Those who follow CVG's GTA V o' clock series will know that there are possible hints for bigger things to come for GTA Online, so we can all hope that the game finds its way onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in the future, so that this component can become bigger and coincide with the major open-world release from Rockstar that only comes around every 4+ years.

With GTA Online on PS3 and 360, there's still plenty of reasons to play, and now that the content creator has been released, creativity in the modes will help keep players invested in exploring San Andreas as their online persona.

Since October, I've put in around 40+ hours in GTA Online, with most of that time spent fooling around the open-world with friends. Nowadays though, some of those friends are unavailable when I'm on to play to play and vice versa, which makes the component feel a bit less worth playing unless you have a crew to play with.

Heists are the last major elements of GTA Online that players are still waiting for, so let's hope that they come soon. Overall, GTA Online is great to play, but only when you have plenty of others to interact with as you all seek out to wreak havoc or just fool around for a few hours in Los Santos.

Wish you could explore San Andreas on your phone? Mobile gamers will be able to soon in the form of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas mobile, Rockstar has announced. The mobile version of the original 2004 PS2 release will feature enhanced visuals to improve the aspects of the game including the draw distance, color, shadows, and character models when it's released for specific iOS, Android, Kindle and Windows Mobile devices.

No date or price has been set, but the mobile version will include multiple touch-screen setups, as well as support for the various controllers that can be used on mobile devices.

San Andreas is one of my favorite GTA titles, and it's nice you'll be able to play anywhere you go when this portable version comes out!

Rockstar has begun the process of depositing the $500K of GTA Dollars into the accounts of players on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as explained in their newswire post.

The money is stated to take around two days to completely reach every player, with Rockstar aiming to have it all released by Friday.

Since they were delays of the stimulus package, the full $500K will be credited to players instead of two installments of $250.

Get ready to spend some money and prepare for the new content, coming later this month!
