Left 4 Dead 2 'Cold Stream' DLC coming to 360 on August 3rd
Wednesday, August 1, 2012
Posted by driou

The slight delay for the Cold Stream content for Xbox 360 is over, as the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC is set to launch this Friday on Xbox Live. The main reason for the delay was an issue with the required title update which will accompany the DLC.
Cold Stream includes No Mercy, Dead Air, Death Toll, Blood Harvest, Crash Course, all from Left 4 Dead 1, and the new user created Cold Stream campaign.
The content will cost $7 (560 MSP).

The Cold Stream campaign has been in Beta for Left 4 Dead 2 on PC for about a year, and now it looks to become an official campaign since Valve has announced that it will be coming to Xbox 360 on July 24th. Besides the new campaign which was user created, the Blood Harvest, Crash Course, Dead Air, and Death Toll campaigns from Left 4 Dead 1 will be coming to 360 as well. That means when you play Left 4 Dead 2 on July 24th, you'll have most of Left 4 Dead 1's campaigns aside from Cold Stream! we are ready to release on the Xbox 360.
No price has yet been announced, but Valve promises some extra surprises and more information on the DLC soon.

Left 4 Dead 2 players can now download the passing and experience what happens when Bill, Zoey, Francis, and Louis meet Rochelle, Coach, Ellis, and Nick. Download it today!
"Left 4 Dead 2’s “The Passing” brings the original Left 4 Dead Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay."

The first Left 4 Dead 2 DLC titled 'The Passing' will be available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday.
The Passing will add a new weapon, game mode and zombie type for Left 4 Dead 2, and will feature the original game's characters from Left 4 Dead 1. The DLC will cost 560 MSP when it arrives this week.
Do you miss Bill, Francis, Zoey and Louis from Left 4 Dead? Well in the first downloadable content coming in spring for Left 4 Dead 2, you will be able to see them again! Titled the "The Passing", the new add-on will take place after the after the Dead Center campaign in a small town in rural Georgia. The Passing will also include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play, as well as a new uncommon common zombie class, a melee weapon, and a firearm. Sounds pretty sweet! This seems like some beefy content for the game, so at least on Xbox 360 expect it to cost 400-800 points. It sounds worth it though, and i can't wait for Ellis to share his stories with the Left 4 Dead crew!
The Passing will be out Spring 2010

New Cast. Same Goal: Survive! Is Left 4 Dead 2 a worthy Sequel?
Left 4 Dead 2 would arrive roughly one year after the original game, and was promised to contain enough content to justify the $60 price tag as it's previous version. With 5 campaigns all playable in Versus, two new modes of play, and new a cast of survivors and special infected, Left 4 Dead 2 does offer more than than LFD1, but is it good?
In my own opinion the answer is yes. The new campaigns are more story driven with the characters discussing the events of their location and trying to survive the infection, although you still want to play this game primarily online with friends to escape the improved, but still troublesome A.I who accompany you when you're going solo. The gameplay stays intact with crescendo events at certain points during the campaigns, and the director returns to thrown surprises your way in the game. The New guns are great additions, and the all new melee combat makes killing zombies even more fun.
So it has new levels and new weapons, but what about the new cast? Well say hello to Ellis, one of the coolest and funniest Survivors of the Zombie Apocalypse you'll ever come across. He's a definite standout among Coach, Nick, and Rochelle who are all great, but can't be compared to the greatness that is Ellis. This southern loves to tell you about his adventures with his crazy friend Keith and all the mischief they get into. Usually each in the safe rooms Ellis will begin his story which will usually get interrupted by the other survivors while he tries to tell you about the things he has done with his friend.
For the special infected, we get the Spitter, Charger and Jockey. The Spitter can spit acid at the ground which does a great deal of damage to the survivors, the Charger can ram and pin down survivors with his mutated arm, and the Jockey can ride and control the survivors and move them wherever he pleases. The original special infected return, and the mix of the old and new make for some deadly combinations when playing in Versus or the new scavenge mode.
Besides the great Versus Mode, Survival, and Coop, two new modes have been added: Realism and Scavenge. Realism is basically campaign mode with some added difficulty. The glow around survivors to locate one another are gone, and the witch can instantly kill a survivor when attacked by her. You can change the difficulty mode here, although any will still prove a challenge. Scavenge mode is a versus gametype where a team of four survivors must fill up an object with gasoline before time runs out and those that will play as the special infected must do their best to stop them. Players switch roles each round, and the clock will stop when a survivor is holding a gas tank in overtime to score one more point for their team. It's really fast paced and fun, and many games only last around 10 minutes, so you can play without having to set aside time like when playing versus mode games that can last for hours.
The promise of more DLC down the line with help with the replayability of the game, and for PC players, the release of editing tools will allow you to create your own campaigns, survivors, and special infected. 360 users will most likely have to get some points ready to buy the upcoming content when Valve releases it, but the core game here can provide you plenty of gameplay until then.

How does it play?
A lot like Left 4 Dead 1 with many great new additions, so if you loved the first game, you'll mostly love this one!
Will it last me?
The campaigns are much longer and with a few new modes, this can last for quite some time. Versus mode and online play will keep it around as well.
I picked this up for $39.99 yesterday (Holiday Sales FTW!), and so far I really enjoy the new features that Valve added for this game while keeping the great zombie formula they established with the first game. The new characters and melee combat are great, especially Ellis and the chainsaw, and the addition to the special infected are unique and fun to play as. With DLC down the line and more modes to play, hopefully this one keep me entertained for a while. Look out for a review soon once I'm able to complete the five campaigns. Wish me luck as I endure the Zombie Apocalypse once again!
Today marks the release of two exciting games as Assassin's Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2: Two sequels that hope to improve on what was established in their first iterations. How will do post Modern Warfare 2? I think they'll do fine either initially or increase sales during the Holiday.
I remember when Prince of Persia came out about a year ago during the holiday, and had a nice price drop. Maybe AC II will do the same so I can continue the story since I was a big fan of the first game. Anyway we get two great games to check out his week, so Have fun if you pick one or both of these up!
