In just eight days, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and with it comes several exciting new enhcancments to the core gameplay. There's the all-new First person view as detailed last week by several news outlets, the inclusion of 30 players for GTA online and all of its released add-on content, the many awesome visual enhancements, and over 100 new songs that will be integrated into game's soundtrack.

Never thought I could get just as excited for a re-release like I am for GTA 5, but that just goes to show you how amazingly talented Rockstar Games is!

The Next-Gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 are set to released on November 18th, Rockstar Games has announced. The anticipated PC release will be a few months later on January 27th. Both the next-gen and PC version of the game promise overhauled visuals, new content, and some of that detail can be displayed in the trailer below.

From Rockstar:

"Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will also feature enhanced radio selections with over 100 additional new songs and new DJ mixes from returning DJs across the game’s 17 radio stations.

A host of new, exclusive content also awaits for players returning from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more.

The long wait for playable Heists in GTA Online may soon be over, as Rockstar has announced a slew of new updates coming this Spring. Along with this highly anticipated feature, there will also be DLC titled High Life, which will bring new vehicles, apartments, and the ability to own multiple apartments, so the money earned online will be very useful to players soon.

Having Multiple properties is a much requested feature from fans, and it looks like Rockstar will answer when the High Life Update comes out.

Content Creators will also be happy to know that there will be editable Capture modes, so soon you'll be able to create deathmatch, races, and capture modes for players to download with the chance that Rockstar will verify the coolest creations.

Refinements will also be coming to GTA Online like the reversal of the game physics for stunt players, meaning the changes made to how bikes and cars behave online will be more like the offline mode, so tricks will be easier to pull of.

It's nice to see how committed Rockstar is to the online portion of their biggest game, and soon we'll all get to check out these new updates!

Tomorrow will see the release of the beta for the GTA Online content creator, Rockstar have announced. The creator will allow players to make their own races and deathmatches across San Andreas, as well as the ability to upload them for others to play.

The creator will also allow Rockstar Games to choose user created content to be featured in future playlists, creating a nice incentive for players to provide fun content for others to check out.

Rockstar has also stated that the anticipated release of online Heists for GTA Online will be coming in 2014, as well as new Story DLC for the single-player which will feature Micheal, Trevor, and Franklin taking on new missions together.

The Next-generation may be here, but Rockstar will still be proving plenty of content for players on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The work continues for Rockstar when it comes to getting the major issues of GTA online fixed so everyone can fully enjoy it, and today marks another step with the latest update for the game.

Today's patch, which is available for both 360 and PS3, addresses several issues including the disappearance and duplication of purchased vehicles in player bought garages, the amount of money lost when killed in free-roam which is now $500, and several others, including better available characters when selecting the random option for character creation, reducing the loading times, and fixing the exploit that allowed players to sell personal vehicles repeatedly.

Aside from the update, the game is now available for download for Xbox 360 via Games on Demand. The required space is 16GB, with players first downloading a 7.63 GB file, and then the rest will be finished from launching the game. It is available for $59.99.

The $500,000 stimulus package will also still be coming, and Rockstar has now stated that the first installment of $250,000 should be in everyone's online account sometime next week.

Once heists and the content creator become available and everyone can fully enjoy the online experience without major issues, I'll get writing on a review of GTA Online. What I can say now is that despite the issues, I'm having a blast with it and have put in a few hours each day since the first major update.

Review: Grand Theft Auto V

Three-Way Split

Grand Theft Auto V brings players back to Los Santos, a satirical version of California not seen since San Andreas, and things have really changed since the last visit in 2004. While the SD and HD versions of GTA are in separate universes, you'll still recognize some elements from the previous game including the gangs and various locations that reappear in GTA 5.

With the game taking place in the present time of 2012-2013, economic downfall has hit the city hard, although the three controllable characters have found ways to earn money in San Andreas, both legal and illegal. Mostly illegal though.

Essentially built by the framework from their more recent titles, the 30+ hour tale of how these three work together makes for yet another fantastic game from Rockstar Games.

It's hard to believe, but GTA IV came out five years ago, although I remember its release like it was yesterday. Since then, Rockstar has released Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and the co-developed L.A. Noire with Team Bondi. These three games were all third-person titles with improved animation and controls from GTA IV, and have shaped the way Grand Theft Auto V plays in various forms.

There's a weapon wheel and random events just like Red Dead Redemption, the shooting is just as intuitive and fluid as it was in Max Payne 3, and the city looks just as detailed as L.A. Noire, a game itself which was based upon the actual Los Angeles.

Having never played it, I can't comment on whether or not the driving is the same as something you would find in Midnight Club, but as someone who put in lots of hours into GTA IV, I can easily say that the driving has been vastly improved since then, and allows you to really feel in control as you speed across the world in the many available and modifiable vehicles.

Before I discuss the three main characters, I wanted to talk about the world of Grand Theft Auto V. It's not a big state like in GTA: SA with separate areas, but it is still a diverse area that is bigger than GTA 4, San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemption. Combined.

This element of the game was talked about plenty of times before release, but you don't really believe it until you're in the world yourself, and can see miles of city, mountains, and small towns found in the game, which can be traversed from the start of the game unlike previous GTA titles. Even after the credits rolled, I was still amazed by the game's detail and the fact that I had not even explored all of the map yet.

Airplanes were absent from GTA IV due to the smaller size of Liberty City, but have returned in GTA V, allowing you to see the world from the skies which truly shows how beautiful the world is. Even in the incredibly fast Military Jet, it still takes time to fly across the massive world.

You'll be able to explore this world as you control three different characters who seek to better themselves, or at least better their bank accounts. Michael is a former bank robber who has been placed into FIB witness protection with a sweet house in Vinewood after scoring a deal, although having the money doesn't make him happy. His wife Amanda loves his income but despises him for his behavior, his two children Jimmy and Tracey are spoiled beyond reason, and the only person he really talks to is his therapist who always seems to increase his visitation prices after every session.

Franklin is a repo man who works alongside his friend Lamar, and they find themselves getting into petty gang antics that leave them with high risks and low rewards, with Franklin only agreeing to help his friend because he's desperate to leave his house which he shares with his aunt who nags him about everything. And then there's Trevor.

A former criminal associate of Michael's, Trevor has made his business in Blaine County selling Meth among other things and brushing up against the Lost MC chapter of Los Santos. Trevor is a pretty crazy guy, but he's also smart enough to make money. But he's still also mostly crazy. If you took Vaas from Far Cry 3, the Joker from Batman, and Lynch from Kane and Lynch, they would probably get along just fine with Trevor.

I wouldn't dare spoil what happens to bring these characters together, but once they're a criminal trio, you'll be able to freely switch between them while exploring the game in free-roam, but also during missions -- something that is sometimes either forced or highly recommended at certain times. What's great about the switching is that the other two characters you're not playing as will go about their day.

You'll often switch to them and find them in either hilarious or normal situations based on their behavior. Almost every-time I would switch to Trevor, he would be in some weird situation or simply terrorizing the citizens of Los Santos.

The character's have special abilities that help in different ways during the course of the game. Michael can slow time when shooting, Franklin can do the same when driving, and Trevor can absorb less damage while dishing out more at the same time. These specials and their set skills can be upgraded so you can become better at their unique abilities as well as swimming, running, shooting, driving, and flying.

Mission variety in Grand Theft Auto V is something that is great as well. You're not just driving to an area and wasting tons of guys and driving off. Their depth is much more evolved, and even around the end of the game, I was taking part in new gameplay sequences.

The heists are the big missions for GTA 5, and they're as good as advertised. My only gripe is that there weren't a lot of them, but they were still fun and varied when they showed up. The heists are actually based around a series of little missions like acquiring outfits and weapons among other things, before doing the big heist and making off with the take. Heists are also great because they involve two distinct ways to get them done, adding to the game's mission variety.

Heists also involve crew members you meet or have from the start to use and can become better at helping you based on how many times they're used for the big missions when they're available to be used.

There's so much to see and do in Grand Theft Auto V. Going for the elusive 100% completion is going to take some time, and there's also Grand Theft Auto Online which launches on October 1st and is looking to be the icing to the GTA 5 cake.

Rockstar Games has once again proven that their worldwide team is on another level development-wise when they release a game to their massive worldwide audience.

Grand Theft Auto V is finally here, and I've had a chance to play a good amount yesterday. Here are my impressions so far:

As great as the trailers look for the game, it looks even better when you're actually playing the game on your TV. The city is beautiful no matter the time of day or weather conditions, and it's really impressive when you consider it's among one of the last major releases for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

So far I've got about 7 hours on my save, and am currently playing as Trevor. The character switching mechanic works well, and I found myself switching between characters every few missions or so, just to get a change of perspective.

Aside from the visuals, the game's controls are really impressive. Having just gone through a bit of Max Payne 3 not too long ago, the feel of that game has moved into GTA 5, which makes the shooting and third person movement better than it has ever been in GTA.

The only issue I've had so far is not being able to access some Social Club features, but it's understandable and Rockstar is fixing these issues as I write out this post.

The pop-in issue that apparently arises from installing both discs to the hard drive is something else that have bothered people, but if you have a USB drive with a nice reading speed, installing disc two on there instead of the Xbox seems to work fine. This of course doesn't affect the PS3, so if you have that version you're good to go.

For me as an avid fan of this series, this game so far has lived up to the years of anticipation and I can't wait to play more of it.

Be sure to check out my review of the game later on. I hope to have it up within the next two weeks. I also plan to review GTA Online separately after it launches on October 1st. Hope you're enjoying Los Santos so far!

(UPDATE) 9/18/13 - The iFruit app will not only be coming to Android devices soon, but will also make its way to Windows Phone, PlayStation mobile, and PlayStation Vita. This ensures no matter what device you have, you'll be able to get some cool in-game rewards!

Original post:

Grand Theft Auto V is out tomorrow, and today you can unlock some neat in-game bonuses with the iFruit app for iOS devices. The app is available now as a free download that will take up about 400 MB on your devices.

Some of the features you'll get with the app includes the ability to take care of Chop, the dog who hangs out with Franklin and Lamar, as well as letting you customize license plates for your vehicles.

The app should available later this week for Android, so in the meantime, be sure to download it if you've got an iPhone, iPod, or iPad!

Via itunes:

"How would we survive without apps? Apps can transform your mobile device into essential tools like a harmonica, disco ball or convincing moustache. Somewhere out there is the perfect storm of touchscreen technology to fix everything that’s wrong with your life. And maybe all you’re missing is the iFruit app. Maybe not. At least you’ll have something to keep you entertained while your significant other prattles on endlessly about their day.

iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction. Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps."

Grand Theft Auto V went gold over the weekend, meaning work has been completed on the game and the discs are currently in production. All that is left to do now is wait just a few more weeks. For those planning on picking up either the Special or Collector's Editions of the game, Rockstar has detailed a bit more about what you'll be getting with those versions.

Each of those versions will come with the .50 Caliber Pistol and the Bullpup Shotgun that are available at Ammu-Nation, as well a Hammer as a melee weapon. You'll get exclusive outfits, facial hair options, and tattoos for each of the three main characters, and a 20% discount at clothing stores in the game.

For the Collector's Edition of the game, you'll get the ability customize how your character looks with the hereditary-based creation system. This system has you choose your parent’s heritage, and allows you to take specific qualities from them to shape your custom character. Collector’s Edition owners can have GTAIV's Niko Bellic, Claude or Misty from GTA3 as parent options within the character creation system, which is pretty awesome in my opinion.

Aside from these features, you'll get a boost to the characters Special Abilities, Stunt Plane trials, and unique vehicles and garages to use in the game.

The Special Edition of the game will retail for $79.99, and the Collector's Edition at $149.99. There will also be a Special Edition of the Strategy guide available for $36.99, which includes a exclusive lithograph.

It's officially official: Grand Theft Auto V will be available worldwide on September 17th!
