Today is the release of the second game in the House party line-up, and one I've really been looking forward too. Alan Wake's American Nightmare is here! This downloadable game from Remedy is it's own containted story, but if you played the original Alan Wake, you'll understand a bit more about whats going on. Besides introducting more action the series, American Nightmare adds a survival mode called 'Fight Til Dawn', and allows you to see how long you can survive against the Taken. Alan Wake's American Nightmare will set you back 1200 MSP ($15):
"In this brand new standalone experience, Alan Wake fights the herald of darkness, the evil Mr. Scratch! A thrilling new storyline, hordes of creepy enemies, serious firepower and beautiful Arizona locations, combined with a fun and challenging new game mode make this a must for Alan Wake veterans, and the perfect jumping on point for new players! Play the full-fledged Story Mode, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat as you fight to stop your murderous evil double to take back your life... and change reality itself! But there’s more to this nightmare – in the action-packed Arcade Mode, you’ll need to master the Fight with Light mechanic to stay alive until dawn and beat your friends on the Leaderboards. Can you survive until sunrise?"

The marketing for the Spike 2011 VGA's is just beginning to start, and Executive Producer and Gametrailers TV Host Geoff Keighley has announced several details about the upcoming show, including what's next for Remedy's Alan Wake.
Alan Wake will be coming to Xbox Live in the form of a Downloadable Title possibly called Night Springs. Remedy has stated that although it isn't a full sequel to the game, it is said to be full Alan Wake experience that could be episodic.
The original game was well received, but didn't sell to expectation. The original game can be bought at a decent price nowadays, so if you haven't checked it out yet, I definitely recommended it!

Alan Wake's first downloadable add-on the Signal was a great extra hour of content, and now we can experience the second, titled Alan Wake: The Writer. Will Alan ever get a break? Find out with this download!

Alan Wake is a best-selling author who is in need of a break. After completing his series of popular books, he suffers from writer’s block. Wanting to help him clear his head, his wife Alice convinces him to take a vacation to a small town called Bright Falls where they can relax from the big city life, and get Wake back on the writing path. Once they get to Bright Falls, things make a turn for the worse…
This long awaited game from Remedy, creators of the Max Payne series, is heavy on the story element and is told is an episodic form with a nice flow to it, and even contains cliffhangers towards the end of each episode to get you ready for the next. Once you begin to play Alan Wake, it will immerse you from start to finish.
In the game you will have a nice arsenal of guns that would even make Max Payne a little jealous, but none is more important than light. To fend off the dark presence in the game, you must first utilize light against your enemies. The basic form will be the flashlight, but later in the game you can arm yourself with better tools like flare guns, flash bangs, and more improved versions of the flashlights that will become essential to taking out the bigger threats. Even if you run out of tools to utilize, never give up because light is always nearby for you to use.
It may have taken a while to release, but Alan Wake’s visuals fit right in the graphical powerhouses of today. The light and shadows look great of course, but all the characters you will come across look just as cool, and the environment is just icing on the cake. The wilderness areas look amazing, especially when they react realistically to wind.
Sound in this game is just as impressive. I’ve never heard of Matthew Porretta, but his voice really captures the role of Alan Wake perfectly. His performance shines when he narrates throughout the game to the player, and really pulls you into the story further, really making you feel as if you’re playing an interactive book.
Sales wise, this game was overlooked by the Rockstar Juggernaut Red Dead Redemption, but Alan Wake is just as great a game to play. It may have taken Remedy four years to release, but like with many great games, it was worth the wait.

Many Game stores are opening their doors tonight for midnight launches of some heavily awaited titles. The three major ones are Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption, and Prince of Persia: The forgotten sands. I'm personally picking up Red Dead Tomorrow so look out for some impressions on that, and would like to check out Alan Wake down the line since reviews across the gaming media have been pretty positive. Most of these games were due out months before, but the developers added some finishing touches that they believed required more, but soon we will get to play these products!
Usually this time of year is pretty empty when it comes to games and have always been the best time to catch up on titles we missed before, but all those delayed games are finally arriving in stores, so I guess it's tough to complain!
Which of these titles are you looking forward too?
Before Alan Wake has a chance to spook us, there will be live-action videos that serve as prequels to the game. Two are available now for Gold Members, and I'll be sure to post when the others arrive. Check out the first two now:
"IN DARKNESS,FIGHT WITH LIGHT. From Remedy, the masters of cinematic action, comes a 3rd person action game filled with overwhelming odds and desperate near escapes. When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A dark presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love. With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake is a pulse-pounding thrill ride."
