Wii U owners will be able to join in on the Smashing November 21st, Nintendo has announced. The game has already received praise from both gamers and critics alike since the game's launch on 3DS last week in the US, with over 2.8 million players in total as a global launch.

That number is sure to increase come November!

If you're like me, you one day hope to attend E3, but I'm glad that I'll be able to check out all of the latest from the show, right from home thanks to all of the various gaming outlets that attend and provide livestreams for everyone to watch. Here's my overview of Nintendo's demonstration, so read and enjoy!

Nintendo

Nintendo showed at their presentation a slew of new titles as well as updates for their existing 2014 line-up. The highlights to me include the reveal of their 2015 Zelda title, the Mario Maker game, new characters for Smash Bros., and the unveiling of of their Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U.

Despite their different approach to E3, Nintendo has shown that they are still a competitor in the hardware and software market and have given many great reasons why a Wii U should be set up in gamers' homes this year.

This year Super Smash fans will be able to grab the game either on 3DS in October, or this holiday season when it arrives for the Wii U. Both versions look impressive, and Nintendo announced new characters for the game today, including the ability to use your Mii to battle against the main roster of characters.

If you enjoy Smash playing with a Gamecube controller, you'll be able to grab the adapter that lets you use that controller for $19.99, which will allow up to four controllers to be connected to the Wii U.

There's also a new Star Fox coming, as well as Kirby and an exclusive title from the creator of Ninja Gaiden, but without a doubt the first look at the new Zelda title stole the show. In the video above, the creator discusses the chance to create a fully open-world which will utilize the power of the Wii U to create a title that fans have been dreaming for since the N64 releases.

When the game does release, I hope to have a Wii U ready and waiting to play through Link's latest adventure.

While Nintendo won't have an traditional conference at this year's E3, the company still plans on showcasing their upcoming products, and even offering the chance for the public to get hands-on with their titles as well with a partnership with Best-Buy. During the week of E3, over 100 Best-Buy locations will have playable Wii-U titles that will be showcased at E3, so you can play what those at the convention will get to play.

Nintendo had another Direct presentation today, announcing the standalone version of Luigi U, HD remakes of Yakuza 1 and 2, and are planning on showcasing the next Smash Bros. at E3.

E3 2011 Overview (Nintendo)

Nintendo had a great conference last year, and this year was even better. They began the conference with music from Zelda, which is celebrating it's 25th Anniversary, and Shigeru Miyamoto came out to discuss the game's history, and talk about Skyward Sword. The game is set to arrive on the Wii this holiday, and was not demoed at the conference, but was promised for those at E3 to check out on the show floor.

After the Zelda talk, Nintendo began showcasing the future lineup of 3DS titles, which includes a new Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Metal Gear Solid 3 in 3D, and even a new Luigi's Mansion title! I loved the first game on Gamecube, and the 3DS version looks pretty neat as well.

But then the main event came: the official announcement of the next console for Nintendo: The Wii U. The Wii U will use all current device for the Wii, but introduces a touch-screen controller which has a monitor on it a bit bigger than a PSP screen, so you could play a game on it while someone watches your TV. The visuals are now in HD, so many games coming out for the console will look famailiar to those playing on the 360 and PS3.

Oh, and Super Smash Bros. was announced for the Wii U and 3DS!!!

Third Party support looks strong, with Darksiders 2 set to arrive day and date with PS3 and 360 versions. Batman Arkham City, Ninja Gaiden 3, Dirt, and Metro Last Light were others games showcased running on the Wii U.

With three platforms to support for the next few years, Nintendo has a lot to focus on when it comes to what games to make and which platform to make it on. But I know Nintendo can do it, but please, no more Mario Parties!

E3 2010: Nintendo's Press Conference

Wow! Nintendo had a great presentation that was filled with new game announcements, minuum sales charts, and the return of great classics. They kicked things off with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which uses the Wii Motion Plus and is set to be out next year. Almost every game they showed had some gameplay to be seen, and most are coming out this year or early 2011.

The New Goldeneye looks great and it's nice to see Donkey Kong back, and the 3DS was detailed more and some heavy hitting publishers are getting behind it. Nintendo did what we wanted them to do: Show games, games, and more games!

Here are some highlights I wrote from the conference:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Out in 2011

Mario Sports Mix- Coming in 2011

Wii Party- Uses your Mii's for various party games

Just Dance 2-

Golden Sun gameplay footage shown- Coming this Holiday

Goldeneye is back! Online Multiplayer starring Daniel Craig- This Holiday

Epic Mickey shown by Warren Spector, creator of Thief and Deux Ex

Kirby's Epic Yarn Announced- Cool Knitting Visual style- Out this Fall

Dragon Quest IX comes to US in July

Metroid Other M Coming August 31st

Donkey Kong Country Returns

Nintendo 3DS

Kid Icarus Uprising

Nintendogs and Cats for 3DS

Many great publishers for 3Ds like Take Two, Activision, Square Enix, THQ, EA sports
Capcom, and Konami

In 10 short days, the future of gaming for the next few years will be shown at the annual Gaming Convention. For us the game fans, Spike and G4 will be showing the press conferences on TV with no commercials in the way as we see what Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have been up to. For my blog, you can expect plenty of quick posts and my twitter to feature 140 characters of gaming goodness. I pretty much plan on watching the conferences with a laptop close by to summarize what will be shown.

I personally want to find out more about the Dead Rising 2 Downloadable chapter that will be out before the games release, and see Fallout New Vegas in action. Anything you are looking forward to for E3 2010? Feel free to leave a comment and tell me!
